Mace to deliver BBC Television Centre redevelopment

£400M BBC Television Centre contract awarded.

West London developer Stanhope has appointed Mace to deliver the BBC Television Centre redevelopment.

The £400M scheme will see the transformation of the iconic building to form a major mixed-use development. Once completed the site will offer a business hub for the creative industries, a hotel, cinema, gym, restaurants and cafes. Some 950 new homes will also be created through the scheme.

The contractor will begin construction works during 2015, with enabling works expected to start shortly to ensure key elements of the first phase can run to schedule. The first phase of the BBC Television Centre redevelopment scheme is due to be completed, and occupied, by 2017.

David Camp, Stanhope’s Chief Executive, said “For the first time in 50 years, the site will be opened up creating access through the site essential in enabling Television Centre to become the hub of an evolving district. Together with the BBC’s continuing presence on the site and the addition of Soho House, we believe that Television Centre will be a great place to live, work and visit.”

Chief Executive Officer for Mace, Mark Reynolds, said: “Continuing our long established relationship with Stanhope and Mitsui Fudosan is tremendous and we are looking forward to working with AIMCo, helping everyone transform the iconic Television Centre into a vibrant new community in west London.”
