TR11 3QSThe Cornwall College Group has been successful in securing funding through the Strategic Development Fund II for the ‘Building Sustainable Futures’ project, which is supported by investment from the Department for Education. The Building Sustainable Futures project will design, develop and deliver employer-led skills provision in alignment with the sustainable skills needs of local employers in economic priority sectors, whilst enhancing Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) capacity and ‘Green Careers’ resources for CIoS.Project Intent:Falmouth Marine School have successfully bid for strategic development funds to undertaken a “De-carbonising a marine vessel” project. The project will result in the development of a dedicated marine electrical classroom and a remote machinery space/ bridge simulation room.

The project will result in the development of a dedicated marine electrical classroom and a remote machinery space/ bridge simulation room.Falmouth Marine School require a marine related company that is conversant with the supply and installation of marine equipment as in common usage within the leisure and small commercial sectors to undertake the supply and assistance with the following with a view to the development of:The marine electrical class room:To be fitted with a combination of marine diesel engine(s), generator, electric motor drives, battery storage and charging, plus the required ancillary services (exhaust extraction and cooling water) such that the equipment can be operated and monitored via links to the bridge simulation room. The bridge simulation room:To be fitted with navigational equipment, audio-visual (to the classroom) and the required IT infrastructure to facilitate remote engine control and monitoring; there is also a requirement to supply virtual reality equipment that would support learners progressing in to employment within the small vessel sector and off-shore wind farm support industry.The complete installation package is to support learners develop the knowledge and skills required to work within the marine industry, both in shore side roles and also afloat, to work within the small vessel industry (vessels of less than 3000GT). The complete installation package is intended to represent those machineries, equipment, services and navigational equipment as would be installed to a vessel (such as a support vessel) for use within the off-shore wind industry or similar.Requirements:To supply the following equipment list and to support and assist Falmouth Marine School staff undertake the build through to completion of this project with the result that the School will have two dedicated workshop/ classroom facilities for the support and development of learners’ skills and understanding of the installation, operation, maintenance and fault finding of marine electrical installations that drive sustainability within the marine sector towards the de-carbonisation of vessel systems.EquipmentCommon rail, 4-cylinder marine diesel propulsion engine(s) with control panel(s) and all ancillary equipment to meet latest EU emissions regulationsElectric drive motor (48v) with intelligent technology package management systemMarine diesel generator(s) with monitoring systemRefrigeration plant with monitoring systemBattery pack for Electric drive and engine start systemsMarine 240 volt/ 12-volt shore power charging system with invertor(s)Solar Panels and Wind generator with distribution boardsElectro- Hydraulic steering systemRaw water system, Black water system, Fresh water system, Water maker, (with monitoring and sensing equipment)Electric winchesFull Navigation package to include radar simulationInternal Lighting and hotel services package
