Barking Riverside
This is an on-going project with the Barking Riverside Corporation which involves housing park areas, cycle ways, schools and recreational areas.
Sustainability was fundamental to the brief and all lighting had to be energy efficient and maintainable.
Working closely with the landscape architect, It Does Lighting Ltd were able to achieve functional and decorative lighting which is being rolled out across the whole of the site.
Bespoke versions of some luminaires were required for internal open space where maintenance was an issue. These had to have special raise and lower bases as getting a platform into the areas to change lamps would have been a problem.
Also white light has been designed with in all spaces to keep lighting levels low under BS5489 and give good colour rendering which helps to make residential spaces feel safer.
Some of the amenity areas have decorative lighting to highlight some of the features such as bridges, waterfalls and boardwalks. The site will continue to be developed and expanded upon and will incorporate a school, other public amenity spaces and buildings which will follow the lighting plan.
