Housing - Stakeholder - uk infrastructure show 2020

Countdown to UK Infrastructure Show 2020

With less than six months to go to the UK’s premier infrastructure networking event: UKIS 2020, we take a look at how the event is building momentum alongside the construction sector.

With four zones focussing on some of the key areas in infrastructure today, the show brings together 1,000 buyers, planners and key decision makers from some of major infrastructure projects, government organisations and industry bodies in this £600Bn marketplace.

This one-day event, officially supported by a wealth of leading infrastructure organisations, provides a unique platform for both buyers and suppliers at all levels to engage across a range of interactive and educational features, designed specifically to enhance knowledge, collaboration and opportunity.

With the recent government pledge of investment to drive an infrastructure revolution, now more than ever is the time to ensure you are putting your company at the forefront of the infrastructure sector. Confirmed partners include the National Infrastructure Commission, the Infrastructure and Projects Authority, HS2, Glenigan, Sellafield Ltd, Crown Commercial Service and RICS, and for 2020 the event will focus on key projects from across the following sectors:

Transport and logistics: Transport is the biggest spend area within infrastructure, amounting to over £122Bn, with around £55Bn to be invested in sector to 2021. Transport projects amount to over 30% of the investment being made in infrastructure from 2017 to 2021. With over 250 planned transport projects and programmes in the pipeline, worth around £120Bn, this represents a significant opportunity for suppliers looking for opportunities in this sector.

Utilities: The need for a strong utilities’ infrastructure is vital to support the demands of an increasing population. Investment in private utilities is key to improving the efficiency of our electricity, gas and water networks, ensuring value for money for consumers and alignment with other infrastructure networks. Utilities infrastructure is key to the delivery of the Government’s drive to build more houses, and there is therefore nearly £50Bn of investment in utilities infrastructure across 95 projects in the pipeline.

Energy: The UK is investing heavily in the energy sector. Public capital investment is the highest and most consistent in 40 years, while major projects in transport, energy and flood defence are being delivered in all parts of the country. The three drivers of decarbonisation, decentralisation and digitalisation are transforming the energy landscape, alongside continuing technological advances and economic and political changes. Great Britain has the opportunity now to make sure it has the systems and capabilities in place to support the secure, sustainable and efficient delivery of energy in the decades to come.

Social Infrastructure: In addition to economic infrastructure, the social infrastructure pipeline continues to capture investments in schools, healthcare facilities, houses, and the defence and justice sectors. The pipeline contains 172 social infrastructure projects, programmes and other investments with a total value of £33.5Bn to 2020/21 and a £111Bn project pipeline to 2027/8.

The Live stage is already building to be the focal point of the event, with some of the most influential speakers from across the UK infrastructure sector.

Attendees will have an invaluable opportunity to hear directly from experts and policy makers as they present their views on the current and future landscape of infrastructure across the UK.

Full programme details will be announced shortly.
