The Kenzie Group contributes to success of record breaking Lovell MOD Project
Last year, our client Lovell UK was awarded the construction of 346 new homes for the MOD in Stafford, West Midlands.
The new housing site is being built to house soldiers and their families from two regiments; the 16 signals regiment and one armoured division signal regiment, coming back from the Rhine Garrison in Germany.
The project has to be completed within 12 months and be ready for the soldiers to move in to this summer. Needless to say, a project of this scale would usually take a matter of years rather than months, but our client Lovell took on the challenge and is certainly proving that they can deliver!
Each day during the build, there are operatives from all trades on site, and with over 100 homes at varying stages of progress at peak times there are some 400 operatives on site. Despite the complexity and speed of the project there have been no reported accidents or injuries, owing to the determination of Lovell to not compromise quality, safety or customer service when working at speed.
The project, worth £51M, is supported by trusted and experienced subcontractors and suppliers, which Lovell reported “created an outstanding and determined Lovell project team.”
The Kenzie Group has supported Lovell throughout the project providing project management services and was responsible for the formulation and implementation of a fully logic-linked integrated programme. This included providing a forecast and management tool for the whole construction life cycle from groundworks through to test and commissioning of M&E services and interior finishes.
Our experienced project services professionals undertook regular progress updates, assessing the progress on site for all trades and validating against the planned programme, thereby allowing to determine pinch points on site and assessing criticality to the delivery of milestones to the client.
A full report was produced following each update providing a jagged dropline for use on site to illustrate to contractors where focus must be attained on lagging progress. But also provided an accurate dynamic forecast of delivery based on the intricate logic linking of resource based activities, allowing early warning and contingency plans to be developed.
By employing the Kenzie Group to carry out these activities effectively Lovell was able to ensure they stuck to the project plan, and are on course to deliver the project in record time.
