The public realm scheme will provide environmental improvement to;
- Castle Street Junction
- Obins Street/ Park Road
- Craigwell Avenue
- Woodhouse Street
- Bridge Street/Carrick Blacker Junction
- South Bridge Street & Meadow Lane
- West Street to Edgarstown Road
Client: Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council
Description: The scheme objective is to improve the linkages and connectivity between key spaces and gateways in Portadown Town Centre. It is hoped that this regeneration will promote footfall within the areas to help boost trade and local economy. It is also envisaged that the high quality finish will attract tourism and enhance the use of these areas. The Portadown Linkages Public Realm Project is jointly funded by Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council & the Department for Communities.
The works for the Public Realm project includes:
- Removal of surfacing and kerbs and replacement with natural stone kerbs and paving and resurfacing of asphalt roads and footpaths
- Provision of new street furniture and street lighting
- Tree planting and other landscaping works
- New drainage to connect to existing street drainage / storm sewers
- Minor footpath realignment works
- Other ancillary civil engineering works
