ADDITIONAL 16-19 BURSARY FUNDING

The Awarding Authority is encouraging 16 to 19 providers with a Bursary Fund allocation to submit a business case to ESFA in July to apply for additional funding, where appropriate, for devices and/or internet connectivity. To submit a business case, providers must complete a template and provide evidence that as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19) they have insufficient funds to support disadvantaged students, providing a short narrative to explain the numbers of students and the support required. This must be assessed and determined at an individual student level, in line with Bursary Fund rules that all support must be based on individual circumstances and needs. Bursary funding also cannot be used to support the purchase of additional devices for households with existing connectivity and available devices.

COVID-19 GRANTS PROGRAMME

Research Boards: Sep 2020. The Infections and Immunity Board (IIB) is responsible for the MRC’s investments in infectious human disease and disorders of the human immune system. This includes and is underpinned by fundamental research into human pathogens, as well as the normal development and functioning of the human immune system, which informs mechanism of disease.

The molecular and cellular medicine portfolio focuses on basic biological mechanisms or technologies relevant to human health and disease, including understanding the aetiology of disease and developing treatments. This includes specific responsibility for the MRC’s cancer research portfolio, including basic biology, epidemiology and early translational research.
