Bonn-Center demolished to make space for modern replacement

Built in 1968/69, the 60-metre Bonn-Center was once the pride and joy of Germany’s former capital, Bonn. It housed a luxury hotel for guests of state and politicians as well as restaurants, bars and other companies.

When the government moved to the new capital Berlin in 1999 the building became disused. At 11am on 19th March 2017 it was blown up to make space for a new, taller and more modern Bonn-Center.
