Hull City Council has appointed Civica as its Preferred Bidder to take over the running of the Revenues and Benefits service. This includes the payment of Housing Benefit, collection of Council Tax, Business Rates and Debt.
The seven year deal with Civica, a market leader in software, technology and business process services is set to save the Council £5 million. It will also safeguard jobs as part of the deal which will see the full 214 employees from revenues and benefits and some other related services transfer across on protected terms and conditions. The new partnership aims to commence on 1 November 2015, subject to finalisation of contract terms and staff consultation.
Under the agreement Civica will deliver Revenues and Benefits services locally on behalf of Hull and also potentially provide services for other local authorities through the creation of a transactional processing centre in the city called the ‘Kingston Centre’, based at the existing Treasury Building.
