Ghost factory regen set for approval
A huge deserted ceramics factory located on the outskirts of Sheffield, which at its peak employed thousands of brickmakers but is now abandoned and derelict, looks set to be demolished to make way for a new housing development after plans were recommended for approval. The site relates principally to a former Dyson Industries manufacturing facility, known as Griffs Works, located on green belt land to the west of Stannington on Stopes Road. A red brick chimney at the centre of the former facility is a local marker.Ben Bailey Homes seeks full planning permission for the buildings to be bulldozed to allow the construction of 88 dwellings, access, parking, open space, landscaping and associated works.
