New 420-place primary Chelmsford school given go ahead for Beaulieu Park
Proposals to create a new free school or academy at Chelmsford’s youngest housing estate were given the green light.About 3,600 homes are being built on the Beaulieu Park development in north Chelmsford and Essex County Council says the demand for school places in the area is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.The authority’s cabinet this week agreed to the construction of a new 420-place primary free school or academy on the site, providing 60 primary places per year group.As part of the proposals, a 56-place early years centre will be built adjacent to the school.Cabinet also approved plans to invite proposals to run the school.The £9 million project, primarily funded by developer contributions, is expected to be completed by September 2018.
