Plans for Anzio camp site finally approved
Plans to redevelop a derelict former army camp have finally been given the go-ahead – 10 years after they were first unveiled.The Anzio camp in Blackshaw Moor will be turned into an extra care retirement village and holiday park.Ministry of Defence officials closed the Anzio site in late 2004 and it was put on the open market in 2005.Applicant Nick Smart’s scheme will include two residential care/nursing homes providing 80 extra care en-suite bedrooms, and 42 one and two bedroom extra care cottages.
