The Black Country Housing Group has begun work on a new £5m care facility in Halesowen. The facility in Kent Road, due for completion next September, will provide a 66-bed state-of-the-art care home. The three-story facility will provide high-quality residential care as well as up to 32 beds and specialist care facilities designated for people with dementia. The 30,580 sq ft property, built by LNT Carehome Developments, will include 66 fully en-suite bedrooms for those aged over 55 years. There will also be six two-bedroom, semi-detached independent living bungalows. The opening of new facility will also create 50 new jobs for local people. Construction of the Kent Road scheme marks the first time that BCHG has developed a new residential care home. However, the social business has a longstanding track record of providing care across the Black Country. In February this year it took over the management of established residential care home New Bradley Hall in Kingswinford and currently manages six independent living schemes for people aged over 55, plus two assisted living homes for people with physical and learning disabilities. The Deputy Mayor of Dudley, Cllr Mohammed Hanif was guest of honour at a sod-cutting ceremony to mark the start of work on the new home. He was joined by Christine Cooper, managing director of LNT Carehome Developments, the company building both the new care home and the bungalows.
