Car free development given green light
A car-free development in a busy part of Leytonstone has been given the green light from the council’s planning committee. Nine flats will be built at the site of 590 High Road after the existing building is demolished. Developer Julian De Takats was given the go-ahead for his design which will be the same height as the existing premises. The four-storey development will offer nine self-contained flats ranging from one-bed to four bedrooms.None of the units will be offered for affordable housing but £85,000 will be given to the council for provision elsewhere in the borough.Car parking will also be banned an d all future residents will be ineligible for a parking permit in the area. The scheme was approved unanimously.
