South Lanarkshire Council is seeking to procure two ‘re-locatable mobile classrooms’ that can easily and quickly be transported and relocated by the Council’s Fleet Services to assist any South Lanarkshire school experiencing short term pupil pressure.
The Council are currently scoping and preparing the design of the mobile classrooms which will include but is not limited to:
— Creation of an educationally attractive learning environment that is adaptable, flexible and innovative and which inspires young people to learn and develop;
— Capable of being delivered to site by an HGV — the classroom is expected to form part of an articulated trailer meeting full EU and UK requirements;
— Retractable wings to allow the facility to meet the minimum space requirements for a classroom;
— Capable of linking to the main school building electric supply;
— Optimising natural ventilation and minimising mechanical and electrical ventilation requirements;
— A classroom specification that adheres, as closely as possible, to the Room Data Sheets and ICT Data sheets for South Lanarkshire Schools.
South Lanarkshire Council invites companies who have experience in building this type of vehicle to register their interest via this Prior Information Notice. Please note this Prior Information Notice is for the build and delivery of the vehicles only in accordance with the performance requirements document (which will be included with the tender documentation).
It is anticipated the tender for the Supply of the mobile classrooms will be issued in April 2016.
