500 new homes get the go-ahead in Kirkby, Halewood and Huyton
More than 500 new homes will be built on council land in Kirkby, Halewood and Huyton.Knowsley council gave developers Countryside the green light for construction at Halewood ’s former Bridgefield Forum, Huyton’s former leisure centre and in Tower Hill, Kirkby.200 mainly three-bedroom houses were given the go-ahead and a further 158 were given outline approval in Kirkby on vacant land between Shevingtons Lane and Headbolt Lane.A council report said the proposals also included a new children’s play area, allotments and space for a football pitch if there is enough demand.The site of the former Bridgefield Forum in Halewood will also see 113 properties built, a mix of two-, three- and four-bed homes.There will be 35 new homes on the former Huyton leisure centre site on Roby Road in Huyton.50 Countryside homes were approved last month on the old Mackets School playing fields in Halewood, and 35 approved on the old Scotchbarn leisure centre site.
