New cadet headquarters gets approval
A new headquarters for air and army cadets in Exmouth has been approved by district planners. The proposed new cadet centre, to be shared and jointly paid for by the army and Air Training Corps (ATC), will be built at the top of Phear Park, at the opposite end of the car park to the existing cadet headquarters, which would be demolished.Members of East Devon District Council’s development management committee decided to approve the planning application for the centre at their meeting on Tuesday.Councillors also backed calls for stones from the site, thought to have originated from the previous Marpool Hall, to be retained in the park.Exmouth Town Council’s planning committee had previously supported the application.
