A housing project has been approved for development in Ramsbottom.St Vincent’s Housing Association asked Bury Council for permission to demolish a row of 15 garages and build seven houses in Fern Street, within Ramsbottom Conservation Area.Once built, the properties will be categorised as ‘affordable housing’, so they will be sold at 80 per cent of the market value.More than 30 people attended a meeting of Bury planning committee at the town hall on Tuesday evening to show their opposition to the project.Speaking on their behalf was Martin Billing, of Peel Brow, who said the applicant had not supplied enough information for members of the public to properly engage with the decision-making process.
