WORK STARTS ON MULTIMILLION-POUND HOUSING SCHEME
Demolition work has started to make way for a new housing development in County Durham which has been delayed by the administration of the original building contractor. The £3.5m scheme, which is being built by housing provider Cestria Community Housing, part of the Isos Group, will include 21 two-bedroom bungalows and 16 two-bedroom semi-detached homes.Proposals for the project were approved by Durham County Council last January and work to demolish the existing 36 empty bungalows on the 3.2-acre site began in March 2015.However, two weeks into the demolition, the contractor originally appointed to build the scheme was placed into administration and work was put on hold.Work on the Jane Darbyshire and David Kendall (JDDK)-designed scheme has now restarted and is being undertaken by Keepmoat.
