Hengoed housing development given the go ahead by planning committee
A housing development of more than 30 homes will be built on land in Hengoed, near Blackwood, after being passed by planning committee.Developer Redrow Homes Ltd made an application to build 32 homes and access on land to the North of Cwm Calon at Penallta. On Wednesday, February 10, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s planning committee gave permission to the developer to remediate the site together with landscaping, new roads and drainage. The residential development will have pedestrian access from the existing Cwm Calon site and will see an existing bus stop relocated. The majority of the site is currently used as a construction compound and storage area serving the residential development immediately to the South.Amended plans of the site layout were submitted, addressing issues raised by authority in terms of the provision and protection of footpath links and amenity. The proposed development of three and four-bedroom homes was met with objection from four residents who feared they would lose privacy and security, as well as noise and dust pollution as a result of construction work.
