Clay Lane Link Road plans for Guildford take a step forward
Plans to build a contentious new road in Guildford have moved a step closer.Last year, the borough council revealed its plans for the Clay Lane Link Road, which councillors believe will ease traffic issues in the area , improve the viability of the Slyfield Industrial Estate, and help with regeneration of the area.In moving the Thames Water sewage works and other utilities to the east of the new road that would be built in phase one, the council has plans to build more than 1,000 homes on the site of the former recycling centre as part of the Slyfield Area Regeneration Project .Phase two, which involves building the link road connecting Clay Lane with the estate, has been delayed for 18 months. The planning application for phase one of the project is due to be submitted in April.
