Richborough 1,000ft tower plans to go on public display
Trading firm New Line Networks is to show its plans to build a 1,000ft tower in King End Farm in Richborough.The firm has yet to submit to a planning application to Dover District Council but announced the intention to submit for the structure by Spring 2016.It says the mast will provide communication links between the UK and Europe.There will be public exhibitions on March 17 and 18 from 10am to 4pm at Sandwich Guildhall, March 23 from 4pm to 8pm at Minster Village Hall; March 31 from 2pm to 6pm at Cliffsend Village Hall and 2pm to 6pm on April 4 at Ash Village HallAt the exhibitions people learn more about issues including the safety of the mast and its technology and planning to protect the potential reopening of Manston airport.NLN has been in a detailed process of site review, assessment and design iteration since early 2015. If approved, the goal is to start construction later this year and complete the mast in the first half of 2017.The tower would be built a mile away from a 324 metre-high radio mast at Richborough power station, planned by rivals Vigilant Global.
