Plans in for £30m engineering innovation centre
Plans are in for the University of Central Lancashire’s Engineering Innovation Centre (EIC), the proposed £30m hub for teaching, research and knowledge exchange in Preston.The university has submitted an outline planning application for the scheme.The EIC represents the first major milestone in the university’s £200m campus masterplan.It has already secured £10.5m via the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP’s) Lancashire Growth Deal. It received a further £5m cash injection from the Higher Education Funding Council for England, which will go towards equipping the facility with advanced technology and specialist equipment.
