Plymouth schools given green light on vital works thanks to £54m Government funding
Scores of schools will now be able to carry out vital works to their buildings thanks to Government funding worth £54million.A total of 137 academies and sixth form colleges across the South West – including five schools in Plymouth – are set to benefit from funding announced by Education Secretary Nicky Morgan.The £54.3million, which comes from the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund for 2016-17, will go towards building improvements and school expansion projects, allowing schools to upgrade their facilities and create extra places where it is most needed.Ridgeway School will use the money to repair its external play areas and to replace its creative arts centre, while Hele’s School will use the funding for building fabric improvements.
