Plans for housing at former Scottish Fire & Rescue College in Gullane expected to be approved
Moves to transform East Lothian’s former fire college are expected to be given the green light.Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is seeking planning permission in principle for a residential development at the site, off Gullane’s Main Street.East Lothian Council’s planning committee will look at the proposals on 19 April, with councillors being recommended to approve the scheme.All three ward members are part of the committee, with the village’s community council among those asked for their views.It is not the only area in the village which has been earmarked for development, though.A two-day community exhibition event was held last month, with proposals for housing at Fenton Gait East, to the east of the former fire college, and Saltcoats Field, to the south of the former fire college.The larger site, Saltcoats Field, could see about 130 homes built, with Fenton Gait East looking at about 50 new homes.
