This is how a new state-of-the-art medical centre planned for the Acklam Hall site will look.A planning application has now been submitted to Middlesbrough Council for a two-storey facility providing a “high quality patient environment”.The new medical centre will include:-consulting and treatment rooms-endoscopy suite-operating theatres and recovery bays-19-bed in-patient ward-diagnostic suite including x-ray and ultrasound-mobile MRI facilityThe centre will aim to integrate with other health services in the Teesside area while providing a “modern flexible design to suit changing medical practices”, said the application.A three-storey 85-bed care home was previously granted outline planning approval on the proposed site.The proposed medical facility is located in the same position, but has a different shape.Access will be from Church Lane and St Mary’s Walk and the facility will provide 100 parking spaces – five disabled, 60 visitor and 35 staff.
