Heybridge to get new modernised post office in July

A new modernised post office will be coming to Heybridge .The Post Office in Bentalls Shopping Centre will close on July 13 to allow for the improvement works to be carried out.It comes just a year after Tesco Express, which previously had a counter service, closed throwing the future of the service into doubt.Residents were forced to travel to Maldon, Wickham Bishops or Witham to access a post office service before Bentalls reached a deal to continue providing the service last April. When the post office reopens it will team up with WHSmith to provide additional services. The modernised office will be expanded to provide three counters and will also stock WHSmith branded cards, stationery and gift wrap.Other changes include longer opening hours on a Saturday and foreign currency being available. The new store will open from 9am to 5.30pm from Monday to Saturday. The branch will close for refurbishment on July 13 at 5.30pm and will reopen on July 27 at 1pm.While the work is carried out people will be able to use Maldon Post Office and Great Totham Post Office.Planning permission has already been granted to expand the popular Pavilion Café and work will be carried out to create a state-of-the-art health facility incorporating a GP surgery.
