Plans revealed for Guild Hall project
The latest phase in the transformation of Preston’s Guild Hall, which has played host to the likes of the Jackson Five, Elton John and David Bowie, has been revealed. The Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP) has submitted plans to convert the basement and ground floor levels of the venue into a ten-pin bowling alley, nine-hole crazy golf course, karaoke booths, a sports bar and dining room.A new entrance is also proposed for Lord Street, opening up the Guild Hall and replacing the existing underpass.FWP has designed a masterplan for the gradual redevelopment of the iconic venue to replace redundant features such as the former Morrison’s and Brewster’s retail stores.Seb Salisbury, the architect at FWP overseeing the project alongside PWA Planning, said the proposals would create an “exciting new offering” within Preston city centre and “help to further establish the reputation of the Guild Hall as a destination leisure attraction”.
