Green light for new drive thrus
Plans for the development of drive-thru restaurants for KFC and Costa Coffee at a leisure park located between Leeds and Bradford have been approved.Property business Urban & Civic acquired Gallagher Leisure Park in 2015 and pledged investment to revitalise the scheme.Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners lodged plans earlier this year seeking permission for the erection of a 2,690 sq ft KFC drive-thru, and a 1,797 sq ft Costa, together with associated servicing, car parking and landscaping.The restaurants are expected to create up to 60 jobs on top of the employment opportunities created during construction.According to a report by Leeds City Council planning officers, the proposed scheme provides an economic boost on a previously developed area of land no longer required for car parking. The application has been recommended for approval.Gallagher Leisure Park, based directly adjacent to the Thornbury Gyratory, hosts a 13-screen multiplex cinema, gym and multi-purpose sports pitch facility.
