Step forward for Essex housing scheme
Plans to build hundreds of new homes in the Essex town of Witham have taken a step forward with the acquisition of an 89-acre plot.Housebuilder Redrow Homes has purchased a parcel of land at Lodge Farm on Hatfield Road, which benefits from outline planning permission for up to 750 new homes.The development, known as The Mulberries, will offer 525 private sale homes in a mix of properties ranging from two-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom houses. Under the plans, 30 per cent of the overall number of homes would be affordable.The scheme is also set to feature a new primary school, enterprise centre and allotments.Redrow Homes will also be investing more than £6m into the local area, with the lion’s share of that funding to be allocated to education.The first homes at The Mulberries are due to be released for sale in early 2017.
