Green light for White Horse in Framlingham to be converted into housing
Proposals to convert a derelict 16th Century Suffolk pub into housing have been given the go-ahead.Owners of The White Horse in Framlingham have been given permission by Suffolk Coastal District Council to convert the Grade II-listed building into two homes and create a further three on the site.Framlingham Town Council, which supported the application, heard it had been approved when discussing planning matters at its latest meeting on Thursday. The proposals had been widely supported in the community, as the pub had been out of use since 2014, and was said to have become an “eyesore” by people living nearby.Comments on the application were mainly in favour of the plans, which indicate the pub’s external appearance will be left “largely unaltered”.Bill Bulstrode, a well-known shop owner in the town, said the pub had struggled to survive over recent years leaving it in a poor state.
