Sun Centre redevelopment set for approval
The planned redevelopment of a large site on Rhyl’s waterfront, encompassing the former Sun Centre, is set for approval. The scheme proposes a hotel, events centre and restaurants among a range of new facilities.Neptune Developments is behind a hybrid application for a 10.5-acre site of the Pavilion Theatre and Sun Centre on the East Parade.The company is seeking full planning permission for the demolition of the Sun Centre, construction of a 73-bedroom hotel, retention of the exiting retail kiosk and train shed for retail, leisure and community use, and new and reconfigure car and coach parking.Outline proposals have also been submitted for the construction of a 43,000 sq ft events and exhibition centre forming an extension of the Pavilion Theatre and two new family restaurants.In addition to the Pavillion Theatre, the kite surf centre will be retained under the plans.The scheme will be discussed at a meeting of Denbighshire County Council’s planning committee on 14 December 2016, with councillors recommended to grant consent.
