Chartway JV to start £30m Ashford scheme
Contracts have been signed to turn build housing on the site of a college campus in Ashford, Kent.Housing association Orbit and Kent builder Chartway Group have exchanged the contracts with West Kent & Ashford College to build 158 mixed-tenure homes on the former K College campus on Jemmett Road.The £30m development will offer 25 rented, 50 shared ownership (part-buy, part-rent), and 53 outright sale homes by Orbit, with a further 30 outright sale homes from Chartway Group’s residential brand, Westerhill Homes.The K College will relocate to new premises by mid-2017, with construction expected to start on the site in the late summer.Orbit has built 5,000 homes since 2013 and expects to build a further 1,100 in Kent over the next four years.
