Newport’s first micro-pub called ‘ The Cellar Door’ will just have local beer and no TV
A former computer shop in Clytha Park Road, Newport, is to be converted into a ‘micro-pub’.The empty shop will become the city’s first-ever ‘micro-pub’, a one-room pub with a focus on locally-produced drinks and no televisions or electronic entertainment, after a planning application was granted.The application was discussed at a meeting of Newport City Council’s Planning Committee yesterday, Wednesday, where members were generally in favour of the idea, but also raised issues such as a lack of a designated space for smokers.The pub will be named The Cellar Door and is applying for a licence to open between 11am and 11pm seven days a week.The application was approved by four votes to three.To view the full application visit newport.gov.uk/en/Planning-Housing/Planning and search for 16/1021.
