County Durham Housing Group secures HCA funds to build 121 rent-to-buy homes
A North East housing group has secured £6.7 million to build 195 new properties over the next four years, the majority of which are intended to help people into home ownership.County Durham Housing Group (CDHG) has been awarded the money by the Homes & Government Agency (HCA) to fund the development of 121 houses for rent-to-buy, and a further 74 specialist bungalows intended for “affordable” rent.The rent-to-buy scheme is intended to help people step on to the housing ladder by offering homes at 80% of market rent, which will allow residents to save for a deposit at the same time.The funding is part of the government’s Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme (SOAHP).
