Alexandria flats plan is given rubber stamp

A proposed plan to build four flats near the old Lennox Foundry site in Alexandria has been rubber stamped.Planning permission in principle has been granted by West Dunbartonshire for the site at 93 Wilson Street.The application, made on behalf or Mr D Greer, Helensburgh, by Clark Design Architecture, initially stated that “planning permission in principle is sought for a residential development at the east end of Wilson Street, Alexandria.“The site is located between a row of terraced sandstone/render flatted properties and the former Lennon Foundry (currently vacant).” The application’s appraisal also states: “Although the site was once used for commercial purposes and is adjacent to a former industrial site, the nature of the surrounding area is changing and it is becoming more of a focus for residential property. The site does have a history of planning applications which came before the local authority as the report states: “There are four previous outline consents for residential development on this site.
