£8m awarded for Springfield Brewery redevelopment
The University of Wolverhampton has secured £8m for its regeneration of part of the former Springfield Brewery site.The cash was provided by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) through the Catalyst Fund.The Springfield Campus is a £100m project led by the university and forms part of a wider £250m investment programme.Planning and listed building consent has been awarded for the redevelopment of a number of buildings and the university’s School of Architecture and the Built Environment will move to the campus once complete.The campus will also home to the West Midlands Construction University Technical College, which opened in November 2016, and the Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills Hub, which will open in August 2017.
