£4.8m investment support refurb of The Ship
A £4.8m investment from finance provider Together has supported the refurbishment of landmark Plymouth building The Ship.The buidling was designed by architect Sir Nicholas Grimshaw and was completed in 1993 as the headquarters for The Western Morning News.Burrington Estates acquired the 116,000 sq ft property in July 2015 when it had been empty for two years and at risk of being demolished.It required funding to refurbish the property in line with its vision of creating a regional business hub. Burrington needed £2.5m to repay their initial investment and a further £2.3m for the refurbishment.In September 2016 it was announced that US outsourcing company Sitel will locate its new workforce in the building, creating up to 700 jobs.
