£5m gym and toy superstore plan for Dundee
Owners of a derelict nightclub venue in Dundee have unveiled fresh £5 million proposals for a toy store and gym after plans for a Sports Direct superstore on the site fell through.TJ Morris Ltd, the business behind the Home Bargains discount brand, has submitted fresh planning proposals with Dundee City Council for the former Venue nightclub unit at the Stack Retail Park.Retailers Sports Direct had previously been granted permission to develop the land into a new gym and retail store, however that project has fallen through.It is now proposed that the former Venue nightclub, which has lain vacant for around 15 years, will be converted into two separate 15,000 sq ft units for a gym and a Smyths Toys Superstore.Should the plans go ahead, the £5m investment will bring 60 jobs to the area.
