Plans for a Disneyland-style theme park in Kent have taken a step forward

Plans for the new ‘Disney-style’ London Paramount Park in Swanscombe have gained momentum, after new leadership appointments were announced.The theme park is a planned £2 billion entertainment complex to be opened by 2022. It will house a 110 acre theme park as well as a 5,000 hotel rooms.London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH), the company behind the project, has earmarked a former landfill site on the Swanscombe Peninsula between Gravesend and Dartford, for the huge attraction. They hope to attract 50,000 tourists a day.Financed by Kuwaiti European Holdings (KEH), owned by the Al-Humaidi family, it is expected to bring 33,000 jobs to Kent. And bosses announced new senior appointments on Friday (February 10) that they say “will help drive forward the plans for the entertainment resort”.Humphrey Percy, Group CEO, KEH, will take on the role of CEO of LRCH; Mike Morrison has been hired as CFO and Kevin Doyle, who has worked on the Entertainment Resort project from the start, has been appointed DCO Coordinator, responsible for ensuring that a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the project is successfully submitted.Planning permission for the park is scheduled to be submitted by the end of this year and around 900 companies have registered an interest in investing in the park.It is hoped the huge resort will also give a boost to other attractions around the county such as Knole and Hever Castle.Inside, it will contain a number of themed zones, with exciting rides and attractions for families, children and the more adventurous thrill-seeking visitor.At its heart, the resort will house a wide range of indoor, covered and open-air experiences as well as a variety of cafes, bars and restaurants. a number of exciting events will be hosted each year such as shows and music events.Mr Percy said that the latest announcement reaffirmed the company’s confidence in delivering the vast project.
