Construction firm builds £20m-worth of affordable homes
Penrith firm Esh Border Construction has build £20m-worth of affordable homes across the north west in the last year.The company – which is based in Redhills, Penrith – has said its involvement in these projects has been based on a company plan to being good quality affordable housing to the region.Projects have been completed across Cumbria with the aim of meeting housing demand in areas where there is an urgent need for new developments and to get young families onto the property ladder.The schemes have included a £1.7m construction of 10 homes for South Lakes Housing in Binfold Croft, Kirkby Lonsdale, 18 two and three-bedroom homes for Riverside Housing Association in Ashness Drive, Morton, Carlisle, to the value of £1.88m and the £1.5m construction of five blocks of two houses and one block of three houses in Ladyseat, Longtown for Riverside Housing Association.The largest were for Two Castles Housing Association in Cumbria totalling £12.5million, bringing 84 new homes to Grange-over-Sands and Kendal – all of which were built to incorporate the latest guidelines for the construction of sustainable homes.Another development was North Yorkshire, for Yorkshire Housing Association valued at £1.92m. This saw the firm build 12 two and three-bedroom homes and a block of eight two-storey flats using traditional materials at a brownfield site in Low Demesne, Ingleton
