Councillors agree to build new Glasgow primary school
A new primary school complete with community sports facilities is to be built in the Maryhill area of Glasgow to meet a projected rise in the school roll. The non-denominational school will be located on the site of the former North Kelvinside Secondary School at the top of Queen Margaret Drive after a demographic study and options appraisal by Glasgow City Council identified it as the most viable and suitable location. The site meets the council’s aspirations in relation to early years, primary and community facilities. The proposal, including the review of catchment areas for schools in this area, follows an extensive consultation announced in October last year.
