New hotel and restaurants feature in Avonmeads plans
Plans have been revealed for development at Avonmeads in Bristol, including a new hotel, restaurants and expansion of the exiting bowling alleyReef Estates, via agent TDH estates, has lodged plans covering the redevelopment of the bowling alley and areas of the car park at the site.The developer is proposing a mixed-use leisure and entertainment scheme comprising a new hotel, and three restaurants. Travelodge has already agreed terms to occupy the hotel, which will feature 75 bedrooms.The existing Hollywood Bowl will also be reconfigured and extended with a new entrance to the alley, restaurants at ground floor and the hotel above. The scheme represents an investment of £8m.The new hotel is expected to welcome about 36,000 guests per year and create ten full time equivalent (FTE) jobs. A further 39 FTE positions are set to come from the new restaurants.Bristol City Council has set a target date of 20 June 2017 for determination of the application.The wider Avon meads retail and leisure park is home to tenants including Marks & Spencer, McDonalds, Boots and Krispy Kreme. The 14-screen Showcase Cinema is located to the north of the site.
