Edinburgh approves masterplan for over 1,300 homes at New Brunstane
A housing development of over 1,300 homes in Edinburgh has edged closer after councillors gave initial plans the green light.A narrow vote of seven to six in favour of granting approval of the New Brunstane Masterplan will now allow the City of Edinburgh Council’s arms-length developer EDI Group to put forward more detailed blueprints for the site.First submitted in September last year, the proposal for 1,330 new homes – including over 300 affordable – will be one of the first major housing sites included in the recently adopted Local Development Plan to come forward, providing a family-focused neighbourhood complete with a new primary school and local centre with a range of community and retail uses as well as parks, allotments and play areas. The developer said the project would create more than 100 full-time construction jobs and generate £71 million into the regional economy.
