Plans in for £50m retail park
Plans to build a £50m mixed-use scheme in Rotherham comprising retail, restaurant and office space have been submitted, along with new drawings of the development.Harworth Group is behind the project, with Barton Willmore having put together the application. It is earmarked for the former opencast mining site at Waverley which is undergoing huge regeneration work. The overall size of the scheme is expected to be about 200,000 sq ft, the majority of which will be retail-led.Restaurants, a gym and coffee stores are also proposed. A five-storey hotel had previously been considered as part of the consultation process but this has since been replaced in the final application by office space. The scheme is expected to create 700 job opportunities and would “contribute towards creating a strong, vibrant and healthy community” at Waverley through the provision of “much-needed” local health, leisure and retail facilities.
