New-look plans in for Knowledge Quarter student scheme
New-look plans have been lodged for a major student accommodation scheme in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter, with the revised proposals featuring two additional floors and more than 50 extra apartments.YPG Developments has submitted a full planning application to Liverpool City Council to demolish existing warehouse buildings on an L-shaped site at 33 Devon Street near the Royal Liverpool University Hospital to pave the way for a mixed-use scheme. The Smith Young-designed project involves creating 218 student studios and two ground-floor commercial units across a new eight- to ten-storey building.The site has been the subject of several student-focused planning applications in recent years, including a proposal by YPG to demolish all existing buildings and create 162 student studios and ground-floor commercial accommodation across a six- to eight-storey building that was approved by councillors in December 2016.A planning statement in support of the new-look application has been prepared by Knight Frank on behalf of YPG.Liverpool City Council has not yet set a date to consider the application.
