£50m Leamington plans revealed
Plans have been unveiled for two major development projects in Leamington Spa worth a combined total of £50m. If approved, the schemes could bring hundreds of jobs and a number of new homes for the town.Warwick District Council is working with specialist property investment company Public Sector plc to create a new headquarters.The development site in the Covent Garden area of Leamington Spa town centre could comprise offices, a multi-storey car park and 40 apartments.As part of the project, the authority’s current home on Milverton Hill would be redeveloped for housing.If approved, the new head office would be half the size of the council’s current base and could save more than £300,000 per year in operating costs.About 350 jobs would also be moved the site, bringing an additional £1m in spending to the town centre. The two schemes could create an estimated 250 jobs during construction.Corstorphine & Wright are behind the designs for the new council headquarters. The proposals will be on show at Royal Priors Shopping on 3 June 2017.
