Plans submitted for new 17-storey Sheffield development
Detailed plans to develop a 17-storey building redeveloping a Sheffield city centre car park have been submitted. The £15m development plans have been submitted to to Sheffield City Council and would create 116 en-suite flats, 66 en-suite studios and 75 non-en-suite rooms, a total of 257 bedrooms.The 17-storey tower would overlook Netherthorpe Road, and the six-storey podium would be on St George’s Close responding to the scale of the existing buildings in the area.The plans were submitted by iQ Student Accommodation (iQSA) and the new building would also have a dedicated gaming room, multiple dedicated study zones and communal laundry facilities.iQSA was established in 2016 and is a joint venture between charitable foundation Wellcome Trust, investment banking giant Goldman Sachs and housing company Greystar.Greystar is a global leader in the provision of multi-family housing with 400,000 residences under management in 140 global markets.Across the UK, iQSA has 54 student accommodation schemes in 25 cities and operates five sites in Sheffield alone.
