Updated Wylfa Newydd plans revealed
Updated plans have been revealed for the proposed Wylfa Newydd nuclear power station on Anglesey, following the start of the latest consultation on the project.Horizon Nuclear Power’s third formal consultation started yesterday (24 May 2017) and finishes on 22 June. The updated plans include a reduction in the area taken up by the main power station, with more buildings and facilities shared between the twin reactors. The workers’ accommodation has been reduced to a single temporary campus at the construction site. Built in phases, this will initially provide about 2,500 beds and could provide a maximum of 4,000 beds if needed.Horizon has also proposed support for a capital investment programme for all five secondary schools on the island, funding for the provision of new affordable housing and the establishment of a tourism fund.
