Luxury residential scheme set for green light
A 14-storey luxury residential scheme conceived as a gateway building leading into the £700m Middlewood Locks development in Salford looks set to be given the green light.X1 Developments’ full planning application to develop 191 homes on a rectangular site that was formerly used as a skills and training centre at the junction of Oldfield Road and Liverpool Street is due to be considered by Salford City Council’s planning committee next Thursday (15 June). X1 The Landmark would rise up to 14 storeys high.The scheme comprises 91 one-bed apartments, 54 two-bed apartments, 33 three-bed apartments, seven two-bed townhouses, four three-bed townhouses, two four-bed townhouses.X1 The Landmark would lie immediately to the west of the £700m Middlewood Locks development in Salford, which aims to create approximately 2,000 new homes and more than 750,000 sq ft of commercial development space including offices, hotels, shops, restaurants, a convenience store and a gym near the River Irwell and the Spinningfields area of Manchester city centre. Middlewood Locks is being developed by FairBriar International, a joint venture between Scarborough, Hong Kong-listed Top Spring International Holdings and Singapore-listed Metro Holdings.Ahead of the meeting, a report prepared by planning officers has recommended that the X1 The Landmark scheme should be approved.
